Learning about our Class Name
Our class have really enjoyed learning about why we are called Andrews’ class. They were excited to know we are named after a local artist Kate Andrews that likes to draw and paint the nature around her. We have enjoyed drawing our own pictures inspired by Kate Andrews.
Science Learning (Seasonal Changes)
The children enjoyed walking around the school grounds identifying features of autumn. The children found acorns, leaves on the ground, leaves changing colour and much more. We gathered all our research together and came to the conclusion that the seasons are changing.
We discussed our favourite seasons and although most of us like the summer because we have summer holidays, many of us like autumn for lots of different reasons:
- it’s not too hot
- it’s not too cold
- you can go blackberry and apple picking to make a lovely pie or crumble
- you can collect conkers in the woods
- carve a pumpkin with a family member and celebrate Halloween!
Tiverton Museum Trip – 6th October 2022
On October 6th, Year 1 visited Tiverton Museum to further their learning about toys from the 1960s. We took part in a range of workshops that gave us a hands on experience with toys from the 1960s. We discussed how they moved and what they were made from. We also got to make a wooden peg doll. We enjoyed being historians, asking questions and exploring the artefacts.
