Parent Curriculum Information – Spring Term 2022

Science

We began this term, finding out more about different forces including air resistance, water resistance and friction. When investigating air resistance, we designed and tested parachutes. Children had to think about what they could do in order to slow the parachute down. They also investigated water resistance and how quickly different shapes travel through water.

PE

In PE, children have been learning a range of basketball skills and have enjoyed taking part in mini-tournaments where they have been able to practice their skills of dribbling, passing and shooting.

Geography

In Geography, children have been finding out more about mountains and how mountains are formed. They choose their own materials to show and explain how fold mountains are formed.

Fold mountains are created where two or more of Earth’s tectonic plates are pushed together. At these colliding, compressing boundaries, rocks and debris are warped and folded into rocky outcrops, hills, mountains, and entire mountain ranges.
