Daley Spring 2022

Parent Curriculum Information – Spring Term 2022

In Year 3, we have been continuing with the development of our hockey skills. The children have learnt how to carry out a push pass and learnt to defend using a block tackle. We have taken part in some small 3 vs 1 games and will be taking part in full hockey games next week.

Internet Safety Day -8th February

On Tuesday it was Internet Safety Day. Year 3 looked at how we can be safe online, with a focus on online friendships. We worked in groups to discuss different scenarios and whether we thought they were acceptable or unacceptable. We had a circle time as whole class and had a great discussion around the topic.

The year 3 children have enjoyed learning to play the Djembe drums this half term. We have learnt how to play high and low tones and how to play in time with each other. Our final piece of music, included different children playing different parts of a musical peice. We practiced different paces and rhythms. We’ve had a lot of fun!

Science Week

During Science Week, Daley Class enjoyed learning about the growth of animals and plants. For the last 11 days, they have been investigating how fast spring onions grow, when in changing conditions. The children have had to take care of their spring onions on a daily basis and ensure their testing is fair. They also enjoyed investigating whether or not there was a correlation between a human’s height and their age.

Charmouth Trip – 31st March 2022

Year 3 had a fantastic day out, visiting Charmouth beach and hunting for fossils. Charmouth Heritage Centre took us on a tour of the beach and helped us collect different fossils. We explored how the Jurassic coast was formed, and what creatures would have been around in the Jurassic period. We were fortunate enough to have glorious sunshine for most of the day and even got an exciting flurry of snow as we left. The children and adults had a great time!
